A “people’s” priest

Thanks to Don Baird for the below:

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR NEWLYWED BREWER!

O’Fallon brewer and Seibel grad Stu Burkemper married Kristen Neuner on June 6 in O’Fallon.  In addition to a joyful ceremony and fun-filled reception, wedding guests were treated to the world’s best wedding sermon.  Father Joe from Assumption Catholic Church cracked open an O’Fallon Gold and poured it into a beer mug before he uttered the first word.  Needless to say, those of us in attendance were spellbound!  He went on to discuss in some detail the intricacies of brewing beer and compared the process to building a strong marriage.  It was awesome.  All of us here wish Stu and Kristen the very best.

HAVE A GREAT HOLIDAY — Enjoy a good beer and let’s all work together to make the world a better place one beer at a time.

Cheers!

Mastodons

IMG_0949AIf you have been around for awhile say 10,000 years (I think Don Baird qualifies) you may have seen the below with meat on it. If not you can take in many artifacts like below by taking a short drive to the south (20 minutes) of St Louis. Today I fired up my “moto” and took in the Mastodon sights. I also stopped at the Blue Owl in Kimmswick (bottom photo) for some delicious home made food. Check out both the Mastodon museum and the Blue Owl links at the bottom of this post. Cost for museum is $2.50 per adult.

Fearless Ghost Busters…

June 28, 2009

Let me say up front Ghost Busting is not my gig however my granddaughter, Alison, likes it. Alison,  two of her friends and I took on the St Charles Ghost Tour last night. Below are some photos and descriptions from the Tour:

We gathered at Alison’s home for perhaps our final photo:

Our tour guide is pictured below. He is Michael Henry PhD and is very knowledgeable about the St Charles area.

Susan found a key the good doctor placed in her hand would rotate while in the midst of unexplained energies.

The below image is from Dr. Henry’s web site  (link at bottom of post) It is and unexplained orb. Alison caught an orb in one of the pictures she took and I will add it to the below when possible.

On SC Ghost Tour web site
The next 3 images were taken in rapid succession and in the middle image slightly to the right and roughly 1/2 way down it does appear something different was present.

As promised above here is Alison shot with its orb

Summary: I believe the girls enjoyed the tour for its “haunting” character and I enjoyed it because Dr. Henry gave a vivid and detailed history of main street St Charles going back for many years. The tour cost is $20 per person.
